Calling all Iron(clad) Maidens:

Whereas the women of Team Beer were honored to rise to the occasion in
answering your ominous call to a Twister match duel, we feel somewhat
sympathetic in the wake of our glorious victory, which was witnessed by
hundreds of cheering fans at PIR last Sunday (okay, so maybe they were
cheering for the Category A men, but we like to believe that they were
entranced by the great feats of Twister strength demonstrated by the
women of Ironclad and Team Beer). We would like to offer a second
chance at fame and glory to you – our most amicable…uh, we mean…
formidable - foes by hereby challenging you to a great

SLIP N SLIDE DUEL

The winning team will be determined by overall distance achieved on ye
olde Slip-N-Slide mat. Creativity and artistic style will be a plus, but
length matters most in this mighty challenge.

Please be warned: the women of Team Beer have initiated a powerful new
training program entitled Operation Ladies All a’Board for Improvement
Activities. Therefore, you might observe new levels of skill and strength
during upcoming challenge matches.

If you feel bold enough to emerge from the ashes of your PIR Twister
defeat by answering our call to this Slip-N-Slide duel, be there this
Sunday with a case of beer (we’ll bring one, too) and your best Slip-N-
Slide form. This is an excellent opportunity for you to reclaim your status
as Portland’s true Iron Maidens!

Always,

The Women of Team Beer

Fair and bendable women of Beer, we will be there. As the French say, it's on mon cherie!

Wish I could stick around, sounds pretty hot.  Like a pillow fight for prim-n-propper girls but NW style.

I think only the French men say it, though.

What beer is best for getting the longest distance on a slip-n-slide.  An IPA?  A stout?  A Lager?  I would think a Lager as it is light.  Ladies.  Choose your beer with care.  PBR?  Hamms?  Oly?  Do they still make Blitz?

Slide right on down to victory!

Ladies-

You might as well show up to the next race wearing cheerleading outfits and waving pompoms.

Thank you, fair women of Team Ironclad, for engaging in yet another
friendly competition. We continue to be moved and impressed by your
sheer power, grace and endurance, not to mention superior
sportsmanship. The slip-in-slide-off was a very close match. All parties
whom participated won, because everyone had FUN!

Speaking of sportsmanship, Ms. Tigerlily (above) has some
misconceptions about the Team Beer Women/Team Ironclad Women
duels. I am sorry for this but respect Tigerlily's diverse opinion. Idea!
Perhaps a future post-race duel could entail a friendly debate about
specific manifestations of the ideological shift between late period third-
wave feminism and evolving post-modern and post-structuralist forms.
Heck, to keep things balanced, we can even throw out some questions
about postcolonial feminism, and maybe look back at Marxist and
Socialist feminist philosophies (example: did you know that Guevara's
1961 book "Guerilla Warfare" dedicated an entire chapter to the equal role
of the woman fighter? The philosophy lives on, as evident in the case of
top-ranked women comandante Zapatistas). Few can defeat some of we
Team Beer women when the duel medium consists of the likes of bell
hooks, Judy Chicago, Jen Posner and Annie Sprinkle- god bless 'er. Thus, I
suggest we keep things as they are – fun, light-hearted friendly
competitions - to prevent any sort of unfortunate public discomfort.

Anyhow, thank you fair Iron Maidens for yet another fine competition at
the races and afterwards on the slip-n-slide mat! Praise be to the patron
saints of all that is gritty and limber!

That post had too many "words" and I don't have the attention span to "read it."

Who won?  I heard team Beer won by an @ss cheek, but that was coming from someone on team Beer.

And what was the contest, anyway?  A race?  Style?

The slip-n-slide I saw yesterday was pretty small.  Maybe you could go bigger with a full 100 feet of visquine at PIR?

Double yawn. I'll see you at the next races in my g-string. With pom-poms.

Less spectacle, more bike racing.  Halloween is over.

Hey smelltheglove...maybe you should focus on road racing.  Sounds like that's more up your alley!!  Koodoos to all the "fun" women who race hard and push it out there and still have the desire for a little care free, fun female interaction!!  I do believe BEER won by an *ss cheek.  We're proud!

Re: littlepackage - now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! We will proudly cheer
you on, sister! Thanks for reminding folks that it's okay to have
fun...actually, that it's *all about* having fun! You are a true cyclocross sport
and a lovely muse to boot.

These duels only add to the sport of the event! This is a part of NW Bike Racing so learn to embrace it or just don't watch. Not only do the women battle and ride the grit of the actual races, crashing and sloshing through mud pools you could lose a baby in but they dig deep down and find the strength to take that battle off the course...and thankfully it just happens to include baby oil and a slip'n slide.

Oh, guess who didn't show up in a thong and pompoms, perhaps afraid of all the male attention?  Or is that what you were going for...?   I guess I just don't understand.  I am blonde after all.
