Course Description:
Start on long paved straight away. Transition with a right hand turn to gravel/hardpack road. Flat and fast into first section of turf with a couple of turns. Back on hardpack until you enter the motocross track for run–up. Quick descent and transition to hard pack road. Fast corners lead to next section of the dirt motocross track. Back onto double–track service road to next turf section. Small rolling hills and off–camber sections, with many turns. Transition back to pavement for short respite. Back onto turf for more small rollers (pit on right here). More turf and double–track, with several turns, leading to another small section of pavement. Pavement gives way to turf again for another small out and back section of rollers and off–camber sections. Back to pavement, then a sharp right hand turn back onto the turf. Several turns on turf lead to the second entrance to the pit. After the pit, another right hand turn puts you on the paved finishing straight. Rinse and repeat.
Course Map Notes:
- A – Start line / grid area is in the "pit lane" of the auto raceway. This section will be used for staging and start of each race only. Subsequent laps will not use this section of course.
- B – Finish is on pavement and wide
- C – Pit is 2–way pit and approximately equidistant with regards to course length/difficulty.
- D – Expo area is flat and paved. Expo vendors and sponsors only will be allowed. See rules below with regards to procuring access to the Expo area.
- E – Officials and announcers will be staged at the finish line area
- F – Race HQ (You might find the promoters nearby, as that is where they stash their beer).
- G – Registration will be in the big tent just off the pedestrian access bridge. It'll be the first thing you see as you enter the course/expo area.
- H – The overhead Goodyear pedestrian bridge is the ONLY access for racers and spectators. (The only exception is if you have an Expo area pass)
- I – Start loop. See item 'A' above.
- J – Expo access gate. See rules below on Expo area access.
Parking and Race Course Access Notes:
Entrance to the race course will be made from the main gate, not the same entrance as 2003. There will be signs directing you to the main gate, and then to the event parking area. Racers, spectators and vendors must enter and exit through this gate and park in the designated parking area(s) only. Access to the race course, registration and expo area is via the overhead pedestrian bridge.
Expo Area Access:
Expo area access is open to sponsors, expo vendors and teams that pay for the right to park in the Expo area only. If you are a vendor or a team, you must procure your space in the Expo area by contacting Rich Slingsby at River City Bicycles (503–233–5973 / richs@rivercitybicycles.com ). Expo passes will be picked up at the Expo access gate. If you are not on the Expo access list, you will not be permitted to enter the Expo gate– No Exceptions.
Teams are also welcome to purchase a space in the Expo area. Again, this can be done by contacting Rich Slingsby at River City Bicycles. The "Team" spaces are big enough for a team EZŅup tent and one vehicle. If you have special consideration that may require more space, please let us know so we can work to accommodate your needs.
Important Note: Expo vendors and team vehicles will be required to enter the expo area prior to each day's first event and must stay all day. Access to and from the expo area during the days events will be very limited and will be at the mercy of the event schedule and Expo gate attendant.
